Lab Analyst I

We are seeking a self-motivated individual to join our laboratory as a Genome Engineer and Lab Manager. Our laboratory studies vertebrate genetics and we are focused on three questions:

1) What genetic changes make us human? We are interested to know the genetic basis of our amazing abilities, but also what mutations have predisposed humans to certain diseases not seen in other animals.

2) Why are some species able to quickly adapt to new environments, while other species go extinct or are significantly impacted by environmental changes?

3) What genetic changes underlie iconic traits such as the giraffe's long neck or feathers on birds?

To answer these questions, we develop computational methods as well as use techniques from molecular biology and developmental genetics. You can learn more about our lab here:

The ideal candidate will have experience working with animals, cells, genome editing techniques, and lab administration; however, candidates with a knowledge of one part and a strong interest to learn the others are also encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, enjoy working as part of a team, and have the ability to learn new skills.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Implementing established genome editing techniques
  • Developing new genome editing techniques in non-model organisms
  • Culturing and differentiating cells
