Online Plus Writing Fellows Lab Coordinators provide assistance in the efficient operation of the Online Plus Writing Fellows program, particularly focusing on creating and maintaining an optimal learning environment through scheduling and supervising writing fellows, as well as tutoring students directly.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Supervise day-to-day operations of the writing fellows program. Tutor students enrolled in English 1010 Online Plus. Coordinate tutor scheduling. Maintain accurate records of center functions. Conduct tutor and program evaluation.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications
Successful completion of English 1010 Online Plus. Associates degree in English or closely related field. One year experience in tutoring writing, reading, or ESL. Current employee of Salt Lake Community College.
Preferred Qualifications
BA Composition and Rhetoric, English, Linguistics or closely related field. Two years experience tutoring writing, reading, and ESL.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
a. Knowledge of current in-person and online tutoring methodologies in writing, composition, reading, adult education, and ESL language acquisition. b. Demonstrated sensitivity to, respect for, and understanding of the needs of students seeking learning support. c. Ability to communicate effectively and relate well with others. d. Ability to follow written and oral instructions effectively. e. Ability to be flexible in a constantly changing, fast-moving educational environment. f. Ability to work well with others and in a team environment. g. Demonstrated skills with database, spreadsheet, scheduling software, and other pertinent software. h. Knowledge of English 1010 Online Plus curriculum and learning outcomes.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
