Position InformationThe purpose of this position is to provide laboratory support for the conduct of labs in the Biology Department at the post-baccalaureate level and requires several years of experience in a biological laboratory. The incumbent provides the primary prep support for the lower division labs in Cellular Basis of Life (Bio 2) and Organisms in Their Environment (Bio 3). The incumbent participates in the oversight (does not include hiring or disciplinary action) of the daily activities of the student assistants and Limited Status employees and is responsible for the Prep Room during absences of the Supervisor and SRA II.
This position is currently being recruited under two separate postings, as a Lab Assistant 3 recruitment #30718901 and Lab Assistant 2 recruitment #30719212, and will be filled accordingly based on qualifications. The full salary range for the Lab Assistant 3 is $24.77 - $29.49 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $24.77 - $25.81 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Education Education Requirements Degree RequirementGraduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and two years of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences and one year of laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge's and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. Experience Minimum RequirementsFamiliar with the use of steam sterilizers, electronic balances, pH meter, centrifuges, micro/macro pipetters, media dispenser, spectrophotometer, compound/stereo microscopes, thermocyclers, electrophoresis chambers, and power supplies, hand tools. Computer, printer, scanner. 1 1/2 ton box style truck. AV equipment: LCD projector.
