Position Description Employees in this classification are responsible for day-to-day maintenance of animals assigned and basic maintenance of animal room associated with the facility. Employees in this classification have no delegated supervisory responsibilities but may aid the supervisor in training new employees. Work consists of both direct and indirect contact with animals. Conditions may become stressful because of animal odors. Possible exposure to zoonotic diseases, animals exposed to toxic materials, radioactive materials, bites, lacerations, etc. Conditions may become hazardous if animals become ill or are being treated with known toxic substances (i.e., carcinogens, microbial substances, etc.). Weekend and holiday assignments on a rotational basis are expected.
