The Institute for Lifecourse Development (ILD) is an interdisciplinary research and practice institute at the University of Greenwich. The ILD comprises seven centres, bringing together research and practitioner staff from across disciplines to foreground, consolidate and grow cross-professional and cross-disciplinary work and develop life-course focused research and knowledge exchange activities that directly resonate with our stakeholders, communities and partners. The work of the ILD addresses global challenges and has a significant societal and economic impact. Our current ILD centres focus on these key interrelated areas:

  • The Role

    The ILD in the Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences, University of Greenwich, is continuing to invest in its research development services and recognises high-quality support in knowledge exchange and the development of real-world impact is pivotal to its research environment.

    The ILD is now recruiting a Knowledge Exchange Manager. This role will deliver on the Faculty and ILD's aspirations to grow collaborative activities in support of knowledge exchange and innovation goals, improve social and economic impact and continue the growth in its income from national and international funding sources (e.g. UKRI, NIHR, Innovate UK, charities, etc), by assisting applicants across the ILD to develop and secure significant new research and knowledge exchange awards and to support academics in developing and evidencing pathways to real-world impact for the users of the research.

    We are looking for a Knowledge Exchange Manager who will:

  • Lead on the management and organisation of knowledge exchange activities in the ILD and assist in the development of processes to evidence impact including changing the development of policy, practice or services, influencing legislation and changing behaviour; and contributing to the understanding of policy issues and reframing debates.
  • Engage with a wide range of partners in relevant sectors both internally and externally to initiate, facilitate and support the development of new, and manage existing, ILD partnerships.
  • Liaise with academics and research support teams to identify potential knowledge exchange opportunities and create supported pathways for their achievement.
  • Manage and support successful bids in the ILD in response to tender and funding opportunities
  • Take the lead in ensuring that bid proposals are of the highest possible quality, including project management support, proposal writing, intelligence from previous rounds, and a proposal review service.
  • The successful applicant will have experience of working with academic researchers and funders of research and knowledge exchange, including excellent knowledge of UK-related research funding policies and programmes.

  • The role is available immediately on a fixed-term basis for 2 years.
