Senior Lecturer in Medical Education Kent and Medway Medical School Location: Canterbury

This is your chance to join Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) in pioneering a new era of responsive, student-centred medical education.

We are seeking an inspirational educator and role model, to deliver high- quality teaching across all years of the School's undergraduate medicine programme and bring clinical medical insights to the development of the undergraduate programme. It is open to suitably qualified individuals who have a specific interest and background in undergraduate medical, health sciences, healthcare education.

We also welcome applications from those with expertise on physiology, pathology, microbiology and histopathology as these areas of the programme are under active development.

The post holder will also be expected to undertake additional leadership roles within the School such as leading a specific module, or another aspect of our programme, subject to individual area of expertise and workload planning discussions.

As Senior Lecturer in Medical Education, you will:

  • Teach and deliver high-quality teaching to undergraduate students.
  • Contribute to the development and organisation of the teaching of content particularly within Years 3 to 5 of the BM BS programme
  • Identify learning needs of students and define appropriate learning objectives.
  • Challenge thinking, foster debate and develop the ability of students to engage in critical discourse and rational thinking
  • Supervise the work of students, provide advice on study skills and help them with learning problems.
  • Select appropriate assessment instruments and criteria, assess the work and progress of students by reference to the criteria and provide constructive feedback to students.
  • Undertake additional leadership roles within the School
  • To be successful in this role you will have/be:

  • A primary medical qualification and full registration with the GMC, although not necessarily in current clinical practice
  • A Higher degree or equivalent qualification in a related field, or equivalent experience, or Membership or Fellowship of a Royal college, or equivalent
  • Experienced in postgraduate or undergraduate teaching activities such as student selection, assessment including admissions and portfolios in medical education, electronic learning and assessment, student support, supervision and inter-professional learning and assessment.
