Sports Social Media and Information Specialist: Implements social media strategy in order to increase awareness, improve marketing efforts and increase enrollment. Serves as the sports information officer. This position requires evening and weekend work to attend and cover college events.

The salary range for this position is $42,479.42 to $63,719.14 per year.

  • Responsibilities
  • 30% Designs, implements and manages athletics social media strategy on multiple channels.
  • 25% Serves as the primary media contact for athletic events by coordinating interviews, writing press releases, and providing game summaries.
  • 25% Works with Director of Marketing and Communications to promote the athletic department, athletic events, and individual teams.
  • 10% Measures the success of every social media campaign and provides feedback to interested parties.
  • 5% Researches social media best practices and technologies to maintain current knowledge of resources and strategies.
  • 5% Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education: Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing or related field or equivalent work experience.

    Experience: Two to three years experience in outreach/recruitment activities or similar skills. Three to five years experience in project management and/or implementation preferred.

    Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

    Other Skills: Strong interviewing, writing, and design skills are necessary. Must be proficient in Word and have extensive experience in graphic design. Must have knowledge of media relations and photography skills. Proficiency with social media and metric tools are required.

    Physical Requirements: Some sitting may be required, however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. Work may require occasional travel to special events.

    Work Environment: Regular exposure to conditions such as those found in a typical office and at sports venues.

    This position requires submission of original transcripts if hired and three professional references. This position is considered a security sensitive position and will require a criminal background check.
