About the role

Through innovative teaching, insightful research and inspired partnerships, the Institute of Education at Staffordshire University is produces creative, passionate and highly skilled teachers across the Primary, Secondary and Further Education Sectors.

With the Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Partnership and Mentoring Manager role we are looking for someone with high quality experience of ITE or mentoring and supporting Early Career Teachers. To improve our provision, and reflect recent changes in teacher education, the role will ensure high quality mentor training and development alongside trackable quality assurance within partnership placements. This post will work internally with our Placement Team, Academics and Leaders. Externally the post will be working with mentors and school leaders to ensure high quality mentoring is provided to all student teachers which is tracked, evaluated and continually developed.

Within this new role we want a candidate that is passionate about the development of the teaching workforce and the teacher educators that support our teachers. We are seeking someone that has experience and ability to ensure creative and inclusive approaches to mentoring and partnership management, whilst having the skill set to appropriately track and demonstrate impact to regulatory bodies (e.g. OFSTED).

Qualified, or working towards, a Post Graduate qualification in a relevant subject area, the successful candidate should also possess an appropriate teaching qualification. Experience in leading Initial Teacher Education (ITE), school management and training would be ideal for this post.

Main Responsibilities

The main responsibilities for our Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Partnership and Mentoring Manager will be to:

• To be responsible for the strategic development, co-ordination and quality assurance of all aspects of practice based learning within the ITE partnership

• To ensure that all practice based learning is of a high quality, is safe and meets all appropriate internal and external quality assurance standards and benchmarks within the ITE partnership

• To take the strategic lead on any issues related to practice based learning and course accreditation by professional and industry bodies

• Ensuring compliance is met for all students and placements

• Plan, manage and deliver mentor training

• Visit placements to ensure mentoring is of appropriate standard

• Record students and placements on DfE portals

• Leadership of the workbased and academic practice learning for students, especially those on OFSTED accountable courses, in terms of placement allocation, monitoring, reporting and general partnership developments.

• Leadership and line management duties of appropriate staff

• Leading and the IoE Placement team
