The Department of Genetics in the University of Cambridge is an international centre of excellence in the School of Biological Sciences. It is a thriving, friendly and dynamic community of staff and students, dedicated to the pursuit of world-class research, teaching and learning, and driven by curiosity, quality, collaboration and innovation. It is a wonderfully rich and rewarding environment in which to grow, both personally and professionally.
We wish to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated IT Service Manager who can provide infrastructure, services and support for all activities within the department. This will be a hands-on role requiring depth and breadth of technical skills and experience, ideally gained in a similar HE environment with exposure to administration, teaching and research. Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills are considered essential to build and maintain an excellent and confidence-inspiring IT support culture.
The University Information Services provides a high level of core services and support that form a platform which this role uses to build and maintain our departmental IT services and infrastructure. Additionally, the role will be well supported by the department, by the School of Biological Sciences Head of IT, and by colleagues in similar roles in other university departments. A wide range of training and personal and career development opportunities are also available. If you have the technical skills to deliver a capable and resilient IT service for the department, and the personality and drive to create an outstanding support culture, please do apply - we'll be delighted to hear from you.
This role is based within the Department of Genetics, and full-time, on-site presence is expected.
