GENERAL DUTIES

I.T. Senior Associates perform highly complex professional work in technology- related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Senior Associates perform a range of work in development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include diagnosing, evaluating, overseeing and resolving highly complex projects. They have wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may serve in lead roles on complex programs or projects, and/or serve as a direct supervisor of a unit or group.

I.T. Senior Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology- related disciplines, decision-making ability in situations related to those disciplines, and be able to serve as a resource in these areas. They may contribute to decisions on I.T. policies and technical standards.

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the IT Security Analyst will be responsible for providing the direction and technical expertise needed to design, implement and maintain Medgar Evers College information technology security environment. This role includes responsibility for developing and implementing appropriate IT security policies and procedures, configuring and managing security software, and participating in daily security operations. The IT Security Analyst will also conduct vendor, project and technical/ad hoc security reviews. The ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the business regarding security issues while ensuring that the College information assets are properly protected is essential.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform security reviews for Departments, projects, and technical/ad hoc process implementations.

  • Perform Information Security incident tracking/ reporting and escalate critical security incidents to University information security officer.

  • Assess and review current technology infrastructure to identify key risk areas, and ensure adequate levels of controls are in place to address those risks.

  • Implement suitable vulnerability and threat management in order to safeguard the information assets.

  • Develop techniques, procedures and utilities for improving the conduct security risk assessments.

  • Coordinates the development, implementation, and administration of high level security policies, practices, standards and programs.

  • Coordinate the assessment of computer systems security risks, investigates and develops contingency plans by undertaking risk analysis, IT security investigations, surveys and threat assessments.

  • Participate in data collection, analysis, and management for client assessments and client requests.

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent

  • An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position

  • Demonstrated English Language proficiency

  • A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.

  • This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple priorities.

  • At least five years of the required experience should be in an information technology security role,with strong technical skills in security technologies and software such

  • as, firewalls (e.g.,Palo Alto,Cisco), malware detection and protection (e.g.FireEye),Riverbed SteelCentral for network,forensic tools for malware analysis,event log

    management and alerting systems,etc.

  • Experience with security administration across multiple operating systems and especially Windows, Exchange, Cisco and SQL environments.

  • Experience managing and leading Security projects, including defining requirements,developing project plans,and delivering results.

  • Experience with conceptual security design considerations in Internet firewalls, LAN, WAN, file Server, PC, Linux, TCP/IP and VPN environments.

  • CISSP, CISM,CCNP-5,CEH and/or CISA certification is preferred

  • COMPENSATION

    Level 1: $91,298

    Level 2: $99,599

    Level 3: $109,560

    Salary will be commensurate with experience
