IT Officer in the Academic Support and Examinations Section of the Registry (Ref.: 517421) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, and with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related disciplines with at least 1 to 2 years' solid work experience in databases (data analyses, data projection, and data extraction from Oracle and MS SQL databases using SQL tools and MS Excel), support to web-based application systems, and programming for office automation. They should also be experienced and competent in office hardware maintenance, and troubleshooting and maintenance of office computers, servers and other computer equipment.
They should be result-oriented, self-motivated, and able to perform multi- tasking. They should also be a good team player with innovative thinking and good communication skills; and able to learn fast, work under pressure with minimum supervision and deliver results within a tight timeframe. Those with strong data extraction skills and Linux and Java experience will definitely have an advantage.
The appointee will be responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting of computers, servers and other computer equipment, maintaining and updating the Section's website, handling of data extraction and data analysis tasks, providing user support and performing system UATs, providing IT technical support for various meetings/events, development and maintenance of various computer application systems, providing support to office automation projects and administration of University examinations, and perform any other duties as assigned. He/She may also be required to perform outdoor duties and work at irregular hours.
