I. JOB OVERVIEW
Job Description Summary:
The Office of Financial Shared Services (OFSS) and GW IT partner with
stakeholders across GW to equip students, staff, and faculty with technology.
The position supports the work of IT Asset Management (ITAM), which is
critical and foundational to GW IT's security and risk management, IT service
management, and customer experience. IT strategy and resource planning, IT
inventory and fixed asset management, and its mission to enrich GW's academic
and administrative experience.
The Information Technology Asset Manager reports to the Office of Financial
Shared Services. The position is responsible for the end-to-end tracking and
management of IT equipment encompassing faculty and staff computers, audio-
visual classroom technology, classroom and lab computers, software, network
equipment, and servers. This position serves as the primary liaison of GW IT
equipment, oversees workflow processes throughout the asset's life to
disposition, and facilitates asset management components of multiple
department-wide technology-related and operations projects.
Manage acquisition, deployment, utilization, tracking, security, and final
disposition of IT assets.
Assist with forming IT procurement strategies to optimize technology
spending, identify risks, dependencies, assumptions, and constraints, and
develop and/or recommend mitigation strategies.
Explore alternative and recommended end-to-end technology solutions that
satisfy stakeholder needs by assisting in defining, selecting, testing,
and implementing revisions to equipment configurations and tools to
support the ITAM lifecycle.
Work with vendors to procure assets and communicate operational
requirements.
Ensure compliance with ITAM, purchasing, and internal department
procedures and standards.
Manage inventory and ensure maintenance of IT assets, including software
licenses.
Responsible for ensuring IT equipment is received and stored according to
departmental guidelines and that equipment distribution is handled
securely during all stages of the lifecycle. This includes tracking all
assets and updating the records for all installs, moves, adds, and changes
in the ITAM system of record.
Responsible for maintaining accurate asset data, conducting data analysis
as needed, and preparing asset reports and presentations for senior
management.
Collaborate with staff from other technical areas for IT equipment
lifecycle and perform routine asset inventory audits across GW locations,
including 500+ classrooms and audiovisual spaces on three campuses.
Assist in receiving and distributing all IT and AV equipment purchases to
various locations throughout the three campuses.
Ensure IT equipment inventory is secured in approved storage facilities.
Develop and communicate policies and procedures and ensure GW's ITAM best
practices remain relevant as the IT landscape changes.
Ensure process efficiency and facilitate IT asset team meetings and other
ad-hoc meetings as needed.
Provide assistance and coaching to support staff, including students.
The position is based at GW's Foggy Bottom campus but may require
occasional travel to GW's Virginia Science & Technology campus in
Ashburn, VA at management's discretion.
The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission
of specific duties do not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties
that are logically related to the position
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of
specialization plus 6 years of relevant professional experience, or, a
Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 4 years of relevant
professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the
position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent
combination of education, training and experience.

assessments of current processes.
Flexible, analytical, focused on results and efficiency, and able to work
within a team environment.
Thorough understanding of personal computing technology and familiarity
with vendor roadmaps for Apple and Dell (or similar vendors).
Have technical or skilled expertise in ITAM, requiring a broad knowledge
base acquired from significant experience or specialist training in a
particular area.
Experience with Oracle, Concur, Monday.com, and Remedy BMC
Exceptional organization and time management skills and ability to multi-
task.
Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to communicate clearly and
effectively across various organizational levels.
Prior supervisory experience
