  • Sample preparation with nano-micro-fabrication techniques AFM measurements

    the objective is to characterize the piezoelectric conversion properties of GaN-based systems using the AFM system equipped with an electrical module. The correlation between the mechanical, electrical and conversion properties of GaN systems will be carried out. The mechanisms of piezo-conversion established from AFM analyses will also be compared with macroscopic measurements taken on electromechanical measurement benches. These multi-scale measurements will allow an extended characterization of GaN piezoelectric systems.

    The development of GaN-based piezoelectric generators relies on the system's ability to efficiently convert mechanical strain into an electrical signal. To develop efficient energy harvesters, it is essential to deeply characterize the piezoelectric properties of the system. In recent years, the use of an atomic force microscope (AFM) combined with an electrical module has offered the possible to carry out such characterizations, thus helping to improve the performance of generator devices.
