The NC State European Center in Prague supports the educational and outreach objectives of NC State University. It is the university's only permanent year- round international facility that welcomes both students and faculty and aims to serve as a gateway to Europe for developing international networks and experiences.
As a unit of the Office of Global Engagement, NC State Prague primarily serves as a study abroad location for NC State students. More than 200 students study at NC State Prague each academic year on a variety of programs offered every summer, fall, and spring. Students take a full course load of NC State credits, taking advantage of the historically and culturally rich city of Prague to enhance content. Students from all academic majors and disciplines are eligible to apply. Courses as part of the “Classic Programs” are taught by local Czech or European faculty, vetted by NC State home academic departments. Multiple faculty-led programs are also offered during the summer semester.
Beyond study abroad, a key aspect of NC State Prague's vision includes global collaborations and faculty research. With its central European location and outstanding facilities, NC State Prague is poised to collaborate with colleges and departments to develop seminars and symposiums to engage with partner universities in the European region.
Essential Job Duties
As the lead advisor for NC State Prague, the Program Coordinator is the first point of contact for students interested in studying in Prague. They advise all students applying for semester-long programs and respond to inquiries for students interested in all programs. The Program Coordinator proactively reaches out to students across NC State and beyond to encourage and develop greater participation in programs at NC State Prague. The Program Coordinator is also responsible for developing and executing strategies to fully prepare students for their onsite experience.
