Your role

The primary function of the International Mentoring and Career Consultant role is to deliver mentoring and career development programs that will position students in Vietnam and Singapore and future South East Asian campuses to be successful in clarifying and achieving their career goals. Duties include planning designing and hosting mentoring and career events, workshops and seminars, recruiting industry mentors and student mentees, maintaining accurate mentoring information on systems, responding to enquiries from industry mentors and student mentees via phone and electronically and running communication campaigns to promote career programs.

  • As the project coordinator, plan, design, coordinate, deliver and facilitate high quality, innovative and creative career and mentoring engagement activities. These activities include, but are not limited to events, workshops, industry panels, social activities and networking, both online and offline at RMIT Vietnam and Singapore campuses, as well as other locations as required across South East Asia depending on the RMIT global strategy. This includes high level inter-campus administrative support, event planning and other tasks.

  • Develop and grow the career and mentoring programs in Singapore in collaboration with the team at SIM.

  • Build and maintain industry mentor network and student mentee relationships with both stakeholders via consultations and development of mentoring engagement activities.

  • Conduct research on best practices in managing careers and mentoring programs, delivering innovative and creative programs both online and offline and identify gaps to address and improve for an overall quality of the program.

  • Conduct general career consultations, workshops and group work as and when required by the team.

  • Manage and monitor communication channels of programs including online mentoring platform, mailbox, social media and website; other career platforms and respond to general enquiries in a professional manner.

  • Coordinate publications, electronic communications and social media, develop and produce marketing material including digital and print content for mentoring and career projects.

  • Track and report on statistics and activities on a regular basis and when required.

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in Melbourne as well as RMIT Vietnam internal stakeholders including but not limited to the Employment and Industry Relations team, Career Consulting & Development team, Alumni team, Student Life and academic schools to accurately communicate mentoring and career policies and seek collaboration for the program.

  • Undertake general promotional tasks and contribute to other careers service projects where relevant.

  • Represent RMIT Careers, Alumni & Industry Relations team to create a positive image and nurture relationships with alumni, students and industry partners.

  • Key selection criteria

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline.

  • At least four years of experience in an administrative or marketing position. Experience in running a mentoring/ and or careers program is desirable although not essential.

  • Demonstrated communication and networking skills to support relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including: a diverse student population, employers, industry and professional networks, community organisations and RMIT staff.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong planning and organisational skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a (virtual) team to reach identified goals.

  • Experience in database and website management (experience with CRM software is a plus).

  • Experience in digital marketing and managing social media communications.

  • Excellent IT proficiency skills including the use of Microsoft Office and social media.

  • Ability to display appropriate behaviours in line with the position, as per the RMIT Behavioural Capability Framework (Connectedness, Commitment to Excellence – Improve and Simplify; Imagination and Innovation; Impact; Inclusion; Agility).

  • English Proficiency

  • The minimum requirement is IELTS with a score of at least 6.0 or 160 in Linguaskills.
