  • Knowledge of communications strategies and best practices, and digital communications platforms and channels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational skills sufficient to plan and manage multiple, time- sensitive communication projects.
  • Ability to Independently solicit information from a variety of sources to plan and create effective communications for internal audiences.
  • Ability to work as a team member; communicate and engage effectively with diverse internal audiences, cross-functional teams, and other university stakeholders; problem solve and make decisions; interact professionally; comfortably speak to groups; prepare clear and concise documentation; be flexible and responsive to change.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • At least one year of professional experience developing and writing messaging and content for written and digital communications.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education.
  • Professional experience in employee and/or student communications.
  • Job Description

    Responsible for developing, producing, and distributing news and information to Texas State University faculty, staff, and students. Demonstrates to students, faculty, and staff that TXST communicates strategically and with candor on issues of significance to them. Acts as a vision partner and implementer of an overall framework and strategy to build an internal communications program.

    Job Duties

  • Write and edit messages geared toward students, faculty, and staff – including but not limited to University Communications & PR emails, articles for the TXST Newsroom, social media posts, and web copy.
  • Liaison with the TXST Campus Communicators and other key university contacts to support University Communications & PR content planning and messaging around internal communications.
  • Explore and implement new initiatives or outreach from within University Communications & PR to engage with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Assist in developing internal communications campaigns, messages, and materials.
  • Resolve common internal communications problems and obstacles as needed.
  • Organize and coordinate internal functions and meetings.
  • Assess and recommend alternative delivery mechanisms for internal communications based on reviewing analytics and metrics.
  • Assist in establishing procedures for internal announcements and messages.
