  • What makes Goldsmiths unique?

Goldsmiths is a world-renowned university that has a reputation for rigorous and innovative academic work; creativity has long been our hallmark. Academic excellence and imaginative course content combine to make a place where creative minds can thrive.

    About the Department

The role sits within in the Strategic Communications function which is part of our Communications, Marketing and Recruitment directorate.

    About the Role

Internal communications plays an important role for our staff by reflecting student and staff achievements, advertising events and informing staff about new initiatives and processes relating to colleagues' work.

We have a staff of around 1,300 FTE made up of academics and professional services colleagues, with the majority of these based on our single-site campus in New Cross. Being able to share clear, timely and targeted communications with this audience is a vital part of our overall communications work.

The role will oversee the production of internal communications from beginning to end – from planning, writing and editing of copy to CRM production and analysis to measure effectiveness of communications.

Listening is also an important part of our staff engagement and we are looking for someone to help develop ways to enable institutional conversations.

    This is a permanent role.

We are currently operating a hybrid working model of at least two days in our office in New Cross, London (one of which is a fixed core day when the rest of the team is in). Other days are working remotely. However, people can work more days in the office if they prefer. This is subject to change, but there are currently no plans to change it.

Interviews will take place in July 2024.

    About the Candidate

We're looking for a dynamic communications professional to oversee communications to staff at Goldsmiths, using established methods and finding new ways to reach this engaged and important audience.

We are looking for someone who has excellent writing and editing skills and experience of using content management systems and CRM systems.

The role mixes longer-term planning and staff engagement through to regular, hands-on delivery of communications products like weekly newsletters and supporting the development of our College-wide intranet. We also want someone who can recognise the need to drop everything and respond to a developing issue.

    Benefits

We have generous benefits – an agile working environment, 28 days' annual leave plus 6 paid closure days (4 at Christmas and 2 at Easter) plus all Bank Holidays, great transport links, a defined benefit pension scheme, support for professional development and a broad range of wellbeing initiatives such as staff choir, running club and creative writing classes.

Goldsmiths, University of London is passionate about advancing equality and celebrating diversity.
