Position Summary
Coordinate athletic training services for student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletic programs with the University of Georgia Athletic Association (UGAAA), under the medical direction of the head team physician and in conjunction with a variety of other healthcare providers as well as UGAAA staff (including but not limited to athletic training, physical therapy, athletic coaching, strength and conditioning, sports nutrition, behavioral medicine, academics, and administration).

● Applied Knowledge: five practice domains of athletic training as well as a wide range of medical concerns ● Interpersonal Skills: effective communication in both day-to-day tasks as well as high stress circumstances with student-athletes, parents / guardians, as well as colleagues ● Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Decision-Making Skills: appropriate conclusions / outcomes, particularly as it pertains to healthcare of the student-athlete ● Attention to Detail: thorough and organized, particularly with preparation and documentation ● Time Management Skills: prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision
Physical Demands
Stand; walk; use hands and reach with hands and arms. Sit and talk or hear. Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Close and distance vision, and peripheral vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but escalates to high during practice and athletic competitions.

Healthcare Administration and Professional Responsibility: o Prepare injury reports o Document in electronic medical record o Collect pertinent medical paperwork o Collect injury incident data for research purposes o Coordinate student-athlete medical appointments o Maintain primary and satellite athletic training rooms o Follow NCAA, SEC, UGA policies, procedures, and regulations o Perform job duties per NATA code of ethics and state of Georgia scope of practice

Injury / Illness Prevention and Wellness Promotion: o Assess risk of injury / illness o Provide appropriate interventions o Develop overall wellness programs o Customize needs of individuals

Therapeutic Intervention: o Under medical direction of team physician o In conjunction with other healthcare providers o Follow appropriate rehabilitation protocols o Use of therapeutic modalities and exercise o Provide accommodations in sport related to injury / illness o Assess readiness for safe return to play o Guide sport-specific functional progression

Examination, Assessment, and Diagnosis: o Apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology o Perform ergonomic measures and special tests o Assess injury / illness to determine the appropriate course of action
