Position Function:

Assist with building entrepreneurial teams to start innovative, new businesses. You will be evaluating Mississippi research and technologies on their ability to be turned into an invest-able business. You will have three main focuses - building out our catalog of Mississippi research ready to move to market, reaching out to prospective entrepreneurs to assist them through MSU I-Corps Site program and choosing a technology to complete the 3 week I-Corps Site program.

Employees hired into Intermittent positions are limited to working no more than 720 hours per fiscal year.

Salary Grade: UC

Department Profile:

MSU's ECenter has a long and successful track records of empowering students to plan, launch and grow successful local and global companies based on new ideas or MSU invented technology. Utilizing the start-up pipeline and resources developed at State to support students, we are now expanding to bolster entrepreneurship across the state; starting in Vicksburg, MS.

Area of Specialization:

Center for Entrepreneurship Outreach

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Evaluate research from MSU, ERDC, and other Mississippi research institutions to buld our catalog for prospective entrepreneurs to go through the I-Corps program with. 2) Identify researchers who have developed promising technologies and meet with them for more information. 3) Complete the 3 week MSU I-Corps Site program at least once with an MSU, ERDC, or other Mississippi developed technology. 4) Apply for and complete the 7 week national I-Corps program with MSU, ERDC, or other Mississippi developed technology. 5) Guide applicants and participants through application process for both MSU I-Corps Site and national program, serving as a personal liaison to the applicant. 6) Track and log team progress in departmental CRM software. 7) Assist with other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent - 18 years or older

Preferred Qualifications:

1) Experience and familiarity with learn startup methodologies 2) Direct entrepreneurial experience in a venture or angel funded company 3) Pursuing or achieved a higher education degree (Associate, Bachelor's, etc.), especially in a technical field 4) Experience working in a research institution 5) Living in or around Vicksburg, MS
