Job Description:

The purpose of the staff position of Interim Youth Director (IYD) is to provide support to the pastoral staff and Children's Ministry Director of Resurrection Brooklyn (RB).

The position of IYD is a part-time program position, serving the congregation of RB. The IYD is expected to be a baptized Christian and to display a life that is fitting of a follower of Jesus Christ. The IYD must understand we not only represent ourselves and our church, but also the name of Jesus in all we do or say.

Primary responsibility for planning and running the weekly RB youth group meeting. • Preparing games and activities • Preparing a message relevant to the discipleship of youth with emphasis on application • Handling logistics in regard to the weekly youth group meeting (meeting space is secured and available, food is ordered and paid for, volunteers are scheduled to assist, etc.)

Compensation: The IYD is a salaried position of $300 per week for weeks worked. IYD will not be paid for weeks the youth group does not meet and any weeks missed that the IYD needs off.

Duration of Employment: RB commits to a start date of as soon as possible through the last youth group meeting of the current spring 2023 academic semester June 23rd, 2023.

Anticipated weeks with no Friday youth group include April 7th, April 14th, May 26th.

This position is meant to fill an interim need while RB continues to settle following a year of significant transition. RB will make a decision during the summer 2023 as to their plans for their youth ministry and a longer term commitment to a youth ministry director. The IYD will be given strong consideration for the long term position pending performance and overall fit during the spring 2023 semester.

Notice of resignation and termination: RB requests two weeks notice before resigning from employment. RB reserves the right to terminate the position at their discretion.

Position Qualifications:

The Interim Youth Director is expected to be a baptized Christian and to display a life that is fitting of a follower of Jesus Christ. The IYD must understand we not only represent ourselves and our church, but also the name of Jesus in all we do or say.

Other Expectations: Cooperation and communication with the Executive Pastor, Senior Pastor, and Children's Ministry Director is crucial. The Executive Pastor, Senior Pastor, and Children's Ministry Director promise to communicate honestly with the IYD about expectations, adjustments that must be made and feedback on performance. The IYD must have the same commitment to honesty and collegiality.

The IYD is not required to be a member of RB or attend Sunday worship services at RB.

The IYD must be able to arrange for their own travel to and from weekly youth group meetings at their own cost.

Skills required:

Desire to serve youth and families in ministry

Able to plan and lead small group discussion/reflections/devotions

Able to plan and lead youth activities/games

Able to coordinate the logistics of planning and executing weekly youth group meetings, such as ordering food in advance and coordinating youth ministry volunteers to be present for meetings
