Renaissance Fusion is the first Magnetic Confinement Fusion company in the EU. We are building the first net-energy producing stellarator by combining proprietary innovations in modular design, the manufacturing of next- generation High-Temperature Superconducting (HTS) magnets, and liquid walls. We are forming a team of the brightest, most driven scientists and engineers to realize and commercialize our non-fusion HTS magnets within 2 years, and fusion magnets and integrated fusion solutions within 10 years.

As a member of the liquid metal experimental team, we are looking for a control engineer with a strong technical curiosity, rigor, and precision to set up a flow control feedback loop to stabilize (in thickness and uniformity) thick layers of flowing liquid metal by applying electromagnetic forces.

Your main responsibilities will be:

Identification of the most appropriate sensors (such as ultrasonic, electric resistance…), actuators, and data acquisition systems for the feedback loop, given the characteristic time- and space- scales of the flow instabilities at play

Processing sensor data

Tweaking of actuator settings

Working on prototypes: development, reflection, experimentation

You are the ideal profile if:

Education and professional experience

Degree in automation engineering or closely related field:

-Master's degree with a minimum 2/3 ans d'exp

-Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years' professional experience

Commitment to and experience in following good practice and national and international Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) norms and regulations

Language requirements

Fluent in English (B2 - C1)

Technical competencies

Ideally: knowledge in fluid mechanics (flow control)

Mastering automation in an R&D environment
