Position Title: Instructor

Department: Education/Ldrshp/Pblc Srs Schl Term of Assignment: Term Term End Date, If Applicable: FLSA Status: Exempt = not eligible for overtime Work Schedule: Salary: Competitive Travel: Less than 10% Brief Statement of Duties Brief Statement of Duties: Full-time, 1-year term position in the School of Education, Leadership and Public Service, Seaborg Math and Science Center, and the Upper Peninsula Cybersecurity Institute. The position will start on July 1, 2022, and end June 30, 2023. The position is responsible for teaching 3-4 credits during the fall 2022 and winter 2023 semesters at 25-33% of responsibilities and learning and leading connections to computer science and cybersecurity for professional development and curriculum development for the equivalent of 8-9 credits over a 12-month period at 67-75% of responsibilities. The position has the potential to extend beyond one year should additional grant or university funding be obtained. This is a campus- based position. Minimum Qualifications Required Education: Master's Degree Discipline / Degree Area: STEM Education Required Specialized Training/Certifications: Master's degree in a STEM field or a Master's of Arts in Education with a bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline. Required Minimum Work Experience: Three years of successful STEM classroom teaching or leadership in STEM professional development. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: Knowledge of CCSS, NGSS, and STEM Curriculum; ability to integrate resources, policies, and information into classroom practice; ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff and clinical school partners; implement pedagogical best practices; knowledge of basic coding; ability to communicate effectively orally, by phone, in person and in writing; ability to organize and lead collaborative working groups; ability to serve on departmental, campus-wide, and community committees. Additional Desirable Qualifications Additional Desirable Qualifications: Certificate in elementary and/or secondary education with a teachable minor or major in a STEM field; grant writing experience; knowledge of a variety of web based tools used in education settings.
