Provide daily classroom and/or computer lab instruction, as well as curriculum development as required. The focus of instruction is a combination of theoretical study and practical application.

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning, and student success. Successful candidates will participate in activities outside the classroom including student support and department committees.

Qualifications:

  • Three to five years' recent experience working in a clerical/administrative support position in an office environment.
  • Provincial Instructor's Diploma, or equivalent, (if in progress, maximum of two years to complete).
  • Three to five years current teaching experience in Office Administration, or experience in a post-secondary setting.
  • An acceptable combination of related education and experience teaching adults may be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in meeting determined outcomes and OADM evaluation standards.
  • Proven ability in classroom management.
  • Thorough working knowledge of computer applications (MS 2010 Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Database and Publisher). Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • A high level of energy and enthusiasm is essential. Proven positive interpersonal skills in dealing with students.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of a wide variety of adult students returning to education.
  • Willingness and ability to work effectively as part of a team comprised of instructors, administrators, support staff and students.
  • Demonstrated current experience with computer applications and office procedures.
  • For Practicum course: Must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    Bachelor or Master's degree in a related field from an appropriately accredited institution. Three to five years' current teaching experience directly related to office administration skills in a post-secondary setting. Experience delivering curriculum in distance-delivery formats including web- based learning management systems such as D2L.
