Job Description:

Summary:

This position is in the College of Education, Humanities, and Behavioral Sciences. The position is a full-time (9-month) non-tenure-track position in the Department of English and Foreign Languages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach undergraduate courses in Composition (primarily).

Participate in the activities of the department, college, and university including recruitment and new course development.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.):

Master's degree in English or closely related field.

A Master's degree in Secondary Education with 18 semester hours in English/Language Arts will be considered.

At least one (1) year to three (3) years of teaching experience at the college level - Composition 101 and 102.

Must have evidence of excellence in teaching.

Experience in teaching developmental writing, advance composition and/or speech is a plus.

Public school teaching experience is a plus.

It is highly desirable that candidates be familiar with innovative teaching techniques and best practices in pedagogy.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellence oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level

Demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively with university colleagues within a diverse environment.

Ability to contribute to academic program development at the doctoral level

Ability to demonstrate proficiency in assessment of writing and critical thinking

Ability to be adaptable, collegial, and dedicated to student centered and writing intensive teaching

The salary for each position is based on the grade/tier in which the position is placed, and the salary within the grade/tier is based on the number of years of related experience or number of years in the hiring rank.
