The Department of Chemistry, Physics and Atmospheric invites applications for a full-time Instructor of Physics on August 1, 2023.
The successful candidate will serve as a CPAS teaching faculty member in freshman and sophomore level Chemistry courses, including General Chemistry, Introduction to Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry I & II. Other responsibilities include participating in course-related, faculty-led drill sessions; guiding and mentoring underprepared students toward JSU resources that can support courses success; and assisting departmental Chemistry program recruitment efforts by participating in local school and community outreach events.
A Ph.D. in Chemistry is required, and strong candidates will also contribute a commitment to inclusive, evidence-based STEM teaching, learning and assessment approaches, a record of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level, and a willingness to collaborate with other program faculty in guiding and mentoring students. Qualifications
Minimum Required Education
Must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry, with the degree in hand by start date
Minimum Required Experience
Must have evidence of outstanding teaching ability.
