Title Instructor of AccountingBargaining Unit Faculty MCCFO Assignment Location South Campus Job Function
Primary responsibilities will be to teach courses in the Accounting programs. As a member of a dynamic team, you will create, maintain and teach courses within the Accounting program.
Job Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities: • Deliver lessons in on-campus, remote, or online classes based on existing curriculum and your experience • Assess student performance through timely grading of assignments, projects, presentations, and assessments • Mentor students through content/course through regular contact and communication.
Curriculum responsibilities (in conjunction with other full-time faculty): • Develop new or modifying existing courses • Incorporate new technology and software into the Accounting discipline • Evaluate and improve courses based on student academic achievement • Select and develop teaching materials for assigned courses • Participate actively in the recruitment and mentorship of adjunct faculty
Professional Responsibilities: • Participate in college committees and activities. • Attend student recruiting events • Attend professional development conferences/seminars • Develop new innovations in curriculum and/or teaching techniques
Education
A successful candidate will meet at least ONE of the following five criteria to be considered for the position.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. + Master in Business
Master's Degree in Business. including 23 sem. hrs. in Accounting (graduate. or undergrad.)
Master's Degree in Business including 21 graduate. sem. hrs. in Accounting
Master's Degree in Business including 15 graduate. sem. hrs. in Accounting + 5 yrs related work experience
Bachelor's Degree in Business + Michigan CPA/CMA + 2 yrs related work experience
Preliminary Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years full time, relevant industry experience within the last 5 years as determined by the academic discipline.
Demonstrated passion for the Accounting discipline as evidenced by participation in conferences, course development, workshops, student organizations or community outreach.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA or CMA designation is preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Academic Preparedness: A current and comprehensive knowledge of Accounting & Finance providing a foundation for effective teaching and learning must be demonstrated. Evidence for this beyond the degree would include participation in professional associations, publication of articles, recognition, awards, research or professional development.
• Technological Proficiency: Current knowledge of computer-supported, assisted, or based instruction and the demonstrated ability to integrate into instructional practice.
• Strong demonstrated organization and time management skills; must demonstrate the ability to work independently and under tight and strict deadlines
• Strong intrinsic motivation
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and interact with diverse groups of individuals in a variety of modalities.

Work Hours General This position is scheduled to start Fall 2022 Salary $59,792 -$71,483 base salary, total salary is commensurate with experience as well as course load in accordance to the 2022 collective agreement including extra-contractual compensation for courses taught in excess of baseload
