    Service Schedule: Academic Year Position Description:

    The University of Northern Iowa's School of Music seeks applicants for a full- time, renewable term Instructor of Music in Horn position, with a secondary area of specialization, starting in August 2023. This position will provide individual instruction to undergraduate and graduate students in horn performance; conduct the horn ensemble; teach the horn component of high brass techniques class (for undergraduate music education majors); and other courses depending on qualifications and department need. Preferred secondary areas of specialization are music education and/or music theory; however, other areas including music business/entrepreneurship, music technology, commercial/popular music and music therapy will also be considered. Additional responsibilities include recruiting outstanding students and maintaining an active performance and service portfolio.

    Education Requirements:

    Master's degree in music required.

    Required Qualifications:

    Required qualifications include evidence of excellence as a professional hornist with demonstrated experience in a broad range of performance styles; and at least two years of university teaching experience.

    Desirable Qualifications:

    Preference will be given to candidates with a completed doctorate; and K-12 teaching experience and/or collegiate music classroom teaching experience. Preferred secondary areas of specialization are music education and/or music theory.
