Responsibilities: • Develop IEPs for students in caseload and fulfill other relevant regularatory requirements of the LEA and/or ALSDE) • Support students and families in developing Person-Centered Plans (PCP) • Plan, develop and implement individualized transition educational experiences during the academic year based on students' individual needs and capabilities • Develop, schedule, conduct, and implement meaningful transition education to promote students' self-determination and individualized skills for independent living, employment, postsecondary education, recreation/leisure, community access and participation. • Actively participate in eligibility and Level One Due Process IEP meetings and document the proceedings of the meetings on relevant forms • Implement research-related activities as needed to develop and/or improve strategies for transition education • Prepare and administer educational achievement tests and other age- appropriate transition-related assessments to evaluate students' progress, needs, and make data-informed decisions about students' transition education • Establish and maintain a standard of student behavior to create a functional and inclusive learning environment on the UA campus and/or in instructional sites off-campus • Confer with critical stakeholders including student, teachers, parents/guardians, adult service agencies, pertinent UA faculty and staff, and LEA and UA program administrators to review and resolve students' transition, behavioral, employment, and/or academic issues, maintaining and providing documentation or remediation materials upon request • Participate in monitoring of paraeducators to ensure that they fulfill their role as required by LEA and UA • Attend workshops, conferences, and/or conventions related to special education services to maintain growth in professional development and meet state certification guidelines. • Work with students to collaboratively submit proposals and attend conferences to develop student self-advocacy skills and promote CPP as needed • Collaborate with LEA and UA program administrators in revising and improving practices and protocols of CrossingPoints when requested • Maintain accurate and complete student IDEA, LEA, and UA-records and prepare pertinent reports as required by IDEA, district policies, and UA administrative regulations. • Assume other reasonable job-related duties as assigned by the LEA and/or UA program director as need.

Position: Instructor, CrossingPoints Program, Special Education (Clinical Faculty/Non-Tenure Track)

This position is for a nine-month academic year, non-tenure earning clinical instructor in the CrossingPoints Program (CPP) in the College of Education, Department of Special Education and Multiple Abilities. This position will be renewed annually based upon satisfactory performance and funding.

Minimum Qualifications: • Earned Collaborative K-12, or 6-12 certification; or Masters in Severe Disabilities Education • Ability to teach transition-age students with significant disabilities in a model transition program • Knowledge of curriculum requirements and trends in the discipline • Knowledge of student learning characteristics by area of exceptionality • Knowledge of the field of transition education and transition evidence-based practices. • Ability to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEP) for students in caseload and fulfill other relevant regularatory requirements of the LEA • Ability to conduct and interpret assessment data, group students, and utilize instructional methodologies to promote the achievement of positive postschool outcomes for students. • Ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, e.g., the University of Alabama (UA) program administatrators and staff, Local Education Agency (LEA) representatives, families, related service providers, and other related agency personnel. • Ability to perform required work in a fast-paced, high-intensive work environment. • Commitment to excellence in transition education of youth with significant disabilities. • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion • Effective oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications: • Experience providing transition services to young adults with significant disabilities in secondary school or in a transition program • Willingness to provide occasional supervision of students in irregular hours during special events or extracurricular events and/or activities. • Earned Masters degree in Severe Disabilities Education or 6-12 teaching experience
