    The University of Northern Iowa's Department of Communication and Media in the College of Humanities, Arts, & Sciences seeks applicants for a four-year term Instructor of Communication Studies/Director of Internships position, starting in August 2023. The position will teach nine credit hours per semester, including Communication Research Methods, Cornerstone, and other courses as needed. Additionally, duties include approving internship placements according to departmental criteria; tracking progress and evaluating student performance within internships through reflective assignments; communication with employers; and select site visits. This position also calls for creating and maintaining a catalogue of prospective and current internship placement opportunities, and assisting in managing and maintaining student records and website and social media content pertaining to the internship program. Supervision of summer internships is also expected.

    The Department of Communication and Media Internship Program provides students with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the workplace; demonstrate individual responsibility; develop teamwork skills; network with professionals; and explore career opportunities. Internships are offered in the following major areas: Communication Studies, Digital Media, Interactive Digital Studies, Political Communication, and Public Relations. Each semester, 25-50 students are enrolled in the internship program.

    Education Requirements:

    M.A. in communications or related field required.

    Required Qualifications:

    Required qualifications include at least three years of experience teaching undergraduate courses and directing an internship program.
