Job Summary:

The Department of Biology invites applicants for two (2) one-year Limited Term Faculty appointments. The successful applicants will be expected to teach a total of seven (7) sections, including Biology 111, 112, 201, and 202. In addition, the faculty members might be expected to offer upper-level courses in their field of expertise which could include an advanced course on cell signaling, regulation of gene expression, and/or metabolism.

Duties of Limited Term faculty fall within Article 18.2 (Teaching Faculty Duties) of the Collective Agreement, specifically the Teaching and Service components.

Qualifications:

The successful applicants must have a minimum of an MSc in Biology or a related field, PhD preferred. Familiarity with UFV and a proven record of excellence in teaching is also desired. The successful applicant would also be expected to contribute to the service needs of the department, faculty and university. This includes regular attendance at department meetings, participation at Faculty Council and other university committees. A final component of the appointment is support of student research in an area of the candidate's expertise.

  • A one-page summary of teaching philosophy including (if available) examples of innovative approaches to teaching and course design
  • A one-page summary of proposed research program or scholarly activity to be done at UFV (ideally including undergraduate students
