Job Description Summary

The University invites applications for 2 part-time (up to 50%), temporary position in Special Education for Spring 2022.

Essential Duties

The successful candidate will provide supervision of student teachers completing field experiences in the PreK-12 environment and deliver practicum coursework that develops knowledge, skills, and dispositions of pre-service candidates. Supervision will require travel and observations during the school day. Practicum will occur on Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30. These courses support special education, PreK-4, and Middle Level education majors. Candidates will be required to travel within a 1 and 1/2 hour radius of Lock Haven University.

This position may require development and teaching of courses online.

Specific Duties

The successful candidate will teach up to 6 credit hours of coursework for the semester, maintain office hours as specified by the CBA, fulfill departmental responsibilities as assigned, and participate in University functions.

Minimum Qualifications (Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience; a PA Instructional II certification in Early Childhood, Elementary, and/or Special Education; and a minimum of a Master's Degree in Education (or related field).

Terminal degree is required for appointment as Assistant Professor, without the terminal degree candidate will be appointed as Instructor.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate well and/or perform well in an interview or teaching demonstration and successfully complete the interview process.

Preferred Qualifications

K-12 Principal or Supervisory Certification from an accredited University

This is a posting for consideration by PASSHE faculty with rights under Article 29 of the Agreement between APSCUF and PASSHE. Only retrenched APSCUF faculty with rights under Article 29 should apply.

Candidate must possess the following items: teaching certification, driver's license, PA Act 33 and 34 clearances and FBI background check. Applicant must provide the name, phone number, and email address for three professional references. The successful candidate will also have to complete a background investigation as a condition of employment. Position is dependent upon funding and enrollment.

Background Clearances

In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 (HB 435), appointment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory background investigation which includes, but is not limited to, Act 34, Pennsylvania Criminal Record Clearance; Act 151, Child Abuse Clearance; and Act 114, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Checks.

Appointment is provisional provided the “Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form” and verification of your three background checks are returned to the Human Resource office prior to your hire date.

Annual Security Report (Clery Act)
