Job Title Instructional Technology and Design SpecNature of Work
Instructional Technology and Design Specialists (ITDS) work closely with faculty and professional staff members to provide consulting and direct project support to research and develop learning objects through complete courses and effectively utilize technology to facilitate instructional processes.
Examples of Work Performed
Essential Duties: The ID Specialist works with TLC staff, faculty facilitators and fellows, the TLC advisory board, Information Technology, and others in academic leadership to: 1. Design and implement compelling professional development opportunities for faculty that are aligned with institutional priorities and goals 2. Collaborate with academic leadership and the faculty facilitator on development and delivery of the new faculty orientation (NFO), in particular, as relates to instructional effectiveness 3. Consult with and advise faculty in their use of instructional technologies, including technologies related to course management, assessment, media development and integration into curricula, accessibility, academic integrity, open-education resources, and effective teaching strategies for online delivery 4. Work with subject matter experts and instructional designers in planning, designing, implementing, and assessing online programs and courses 5. Research and demonstrate the use of emerging instructional technologies, including new learning management (LMS) features 6. Foster and promote utilization of the TLC through academic leadership, faculty groups, information fairs, and other media, including the TLC website and blogs 7. Participate in online course quality reviews and make recommendations for revision 8. Manage TLC professional development subscriptions, including Quality Matters 9. Conduct and share active research in instructional innovations and outcomes 10. Act as content manager for assigned websites. Secondary Duties: 1. Generate project, budget, and statistical/assessment reports as required. 2. Participate on department or campus committees as assigned. 3. Other duties and special projects as assigned
Required Qualifications
Master's degree and experience as an instructor and/or in course design in an academic or training setting (may include online course development and delivery experience); Experience working with and maintaining a Learning Management System (e.g., Blackboard, etc.); Experience troubleshooting basic issues with computers and presentation hardware; Proficiency in web development tools and multimedia applications; and, Knowledge of online and hybrid course design principles and practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of three years' experience as an instructor and/or in course design in an academic or training setting, including online course development and delivery experience. Proficiency in web development tools (e.g. HTML; LMS), digital audio, video, image editing tools and other multimedia applications. Strong knowledge of online and hybrid course design principles and practices. Experience using formal quality review techniques (e.g., Quality Matters). Experience prioritizing and maintaining progress on multiple projects simultaneously and delivering responsive results to a variety of internal clients. Experience troubleshooting basic issues with computers and presentation hardware. Significant experience using common office, web-authoring, and advanced presentation/instruction facilitation (e.g. Skype, Vidyo, etc.), and communications facilitation software (e.g., Google Applications). Experience making formal presentations and writing technical reports and proposals. Experience utilizing student information systems, survey/evaluation software, and statistical techniques to evaluate learning and other outcomes. A history of successful interpersonal interactions and building relationships across a broad range of constituencies.

The physical requirements for this position may include, but are not necessarily limited to, the ability to use a computer, calculator, telephone, keyboard, and/or various types of office equipment. Must be able to effectively communicate in verbal and written formats and satisfactorily perform the functions of this position.
