Baruch College invites applications for the Institutional Research Specialist position. The mission of the Office of Institutional Research is to compile, maintain, and analyze institutional and other data to support the operation, decision-making, and planning functions of the College.
Under direction of the Director of Institutional Research, the responsibilities of the Institutional Research Specialist will include, but are not limited to:
Monitor, track, and report, the key performance indicators of the institution' s strategic plan
Complete all internal and external compliance reporting to federal, state and city governmental agencies, including Middle States Annual Update (AIU), NCAA student athlete mandatory reporting on graduation rates and data collection for IPEDS reports.
Provide reliable and accurate statistics about the college which is easily accessible on the institutional research webpage for both internal and external consumption.
Coordinate and provide data where applicable to support external reporting for the College's participation in US News and World Report, College Board, Princeton Review, etc.
Prepare the College's Annual Factbook including a new section on the strategic plan, and the institutional research factsheets on key metrics such as enrollment, retention, and graduation.
Support the annual production of the College's Common Data Set and the data collection and administration of student and faculty surveys
Respond to assigned ad hoc data requests, table, and report requests from college constituencies.
Provide research support in the department's efforts to maintain currency in higher education data and accreditation trends including environmental scans, evaluation of national research studies, white papers, and other relevant literature on current and best practices in institutional effectiveness.
Complete and submit reports mandated by statute, government regulations, or requirements of accreditation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in social science or a related field preferred.
Significant knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Strong communication skills with the ability to present and describe data
Detail oriented and an ability to work independently.
Excellent organizational and documentation skills
Must be able to handle strict deadlines, multiple priorities, and concurrent projects.
Institutional research experience
Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data (advanced Excel skills preferred).
Experience working in higher education
The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of SQL, Python, Oracle PeopleSoft, or other similar ERP systems
Working knowledge of or willingness to learn a statistical software (e.g. SPSS)

Produces reports and metrics based on department's needs; responds to time-critical ad-hoc requests
Loads, extracts, edits, and evaluates data for reporting and analytics
Maintains selected databases and document libraries, updating and ensuring data quality and accuracy
May participate in internal and external surveys as needed
May consult with others in designing methodology for research projects
Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$70,238-$75,465;Salary commensurate with education and experience.
