Position Summary

Michigan State University College of Nursing invites applications for the position of Instructor/Assistant Professor/Associate Professor. This is an annual year, fixed-term faculty position with a full-time clinical practice in the MSU Health Care, Inc. Pediatric Pulmonology, Allergy and Clinical Immunology Clinic and Cystic Fibrosis Center. The Instructor/Assistant Professor/Associate Professor position will be responsible for a scholarly approach to practice making use of evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement processes to assure quality, safety, and improved health outcomes for patients in the practice. The provision of care includes, but is not limited to: comprehensive assessment, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatments and therapies, providing patient education, and managing a panel of patients. The candidate will work independently and in collaboration with the College of Nursing APRN Faculty practicing in the clinic and other providers in the clinic. The Instructor/Assistant Professor/Associate Professor will also be expected to provide clinical supervision of graduate nursing students and be an active participant in the MSU Health Care Group Practice. The position would include the management of pediatric and adult allergy, asthma, and immunology patients. It also includes management of children with a variety of lung conditions. Lastly, it includes the management of both adults and children with cystic fibrosis. The position is nearly all outpatient but would require rare inpatient consultations and call coverage for the group for some weeks and weekends.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Nursing

Minimum Requirements

Master of Science in Nursing for Instructor rank.

DNP or PhD in Nursing for Assistant/Associate Professor rank.

Current APRN national certification as an FNP.

Unrestricted RN license without probationary status. (or eligible)

Comprehensive knowledge and experience in specialty area.

Minimum of two (2) years clinical practice experience as an FNP.

Desired Qualifications

DNP or PhD in Nursing.

Prefer experience in pediatrics specifically in the management of pediatric asthma and allergies, as well as allergy and immunology experience in general.

Experience in the application and interpretation of allergy testing preferred.

Experience with cystic fibrosis is preferred but not expected.

Willingness to see patients both inpatient and outpatient is also preferred though inpatient patient load is minimal.
