Leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander academics work at ANU, who are enthusiastic about nurturing and mentoring – and learning from – the next generation of Indigenous scholars from across the country and around the world. This unique position will sit in the National Centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Wellbeing Research, one of five centres within the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health (NCEPH). The Centre is Aboriginal-led and approximately half of staff and students identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. The Centre conducts cutting-edge innovative and multidisciplinary large-scale research in areas across the social and cultural determinants of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing.

The position will have a specific focus on Indigenous Data Sovereignty (IDS) and Indigenous Data Governance (IDG), as well as contributing to research activities across the Centre. The Research Fellow will contribute to the IDS research agenda, in collaboration with the Maiam nayri Wingara (MnW) IDS collective. The MnW collective are responsible for research, consultancy and advocacy-based work, and building a range of tools and resources to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community organisations and other organisations to implement IDS principles.
