Context
VIB (Vlaams Instituut voor Biotechnologie) is an entrepreneurial non-profit
research institute, with a clear focus on ground-breaking strategic basic
research in life sciences and operates in close partnership with the five
universities in Flanders.
VIB's ICT department is a business partner to the organization of VIB and
focuses on
Rolling out the rules on how someone can use VIB's technology and data,
and what someone can use it for;
Creating, integrating and maintaining applications, developing, securing
and storing data belonging to VIB, and assisting in the use of software
and data management; and
Managing, maintaining and upgrading the hardware components, network and
all other equipment necessary to make the ICT system function according to
the needs.
To reinforce our ICT team, VIB in Ghent is looking for an analytical-minded
ICT Business Analyst.
Role
As a Business Analyst, you will act as a diplomatic business partner and be
the link between the key users, solution architects, vendors, system
integrators and the different business units. You will structure the different
company needs as a function of the capabilities of the different solutions.
You will be the SPOC for all functional questions. You will report to the ICT
Manager of VIB.
Responsibilities
As a Business Analyst, you will
Understand, shape, align, represent and transform business needs,
requests, issues and/or processes into requirements for solutions,
solution enhancements, concepts or features;
Optimize business processes together with the key users;
Oversee, from a functional point of view, all stages of the solution
integration cycle, from blueprint until release;
Act as a product owner and manage and prioritize the solution backlog;
Act, together with the ICT Solution Architect, as a bridge between the
business units and the solution vendors and/or system integrators;
Learn the solution capabilities and features and explain them to internal
and external stakeholders;
Understand, drive and apply an “adopt” approach and “massage” this
approach towards the different business units of VIB;
Manage, challenge and follow up external suppliers in the delivery of
contracted work;
Design and provide (i) recommendations and (ii) a roadmap for proposed
solutions;
Document and share best practices and advocate process improvements;
Design, develop, implement and coordinate on documentation, processes,
policies and procedures;
Collaborate together with the other ICT Project Managers/Solution
Architects on different ICT solutions, projects and changes;
Continuously improve the way of working within the ICT department; and
Identify problematic areas and propose strategic solutions in time.
Requirements
Several years of experience in implementing and integrating ICT solutions;
Good leadership, communication and presentation skills;
Analytical-minded, fast learner and problem solver;
Solution-oriented;
Fluent in Dutch and English; and
Master's degree or equivalent by experience.
