This is skilled trades work performing preventive maintenance work (scheduled maintenance, inspection) and emergency repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and other mechanical systems. As of November 14, 1994, employees must possess the appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990).
Knowledge of the installation, maintenance, inspection, alteration and repair of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
Knowledge of the operation, maintenance and repair of building mechanical and energy management systems.
Skill in installing, maintaining, inspecting, altering and repairing heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
Skill in the operation, maintenance and repair of energy management systems.
Ability to install, maintain, inspect, alter and repair heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
Ability to operate, maintain and repair energy management systems.
Ability to use hand tools and power tools and equipment properly.
Ability to read and clearly understand blueprints.
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
Additional Position Information
LSU Health Sciences Center Division of Facility Services in New Orleans is seeking motivated applicants for the position of HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic. There are multiple vacancies.
The person applying must possess two years of experience in the installation and/or maintenance of heating, ventilating, or air conditioning systems.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
As of November 14, 1994, employees must possess the appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification for technicians (as required under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990).
The starting pay for this position is $20.83 – $21.30 (depending on experience) there is also an additional $1 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.
