Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a HR Relations Client Specialist (RBHS) for University Human Resources (UHR)- Business Partner Services. As a part of UHR Business Partner Services, the incumbent in this position will work in partnership with key stakeholders to implement programs and procedures to advance the goals and objectives of University Human Resources and the University. Under the direction of the Associate Director for RBHS HR Consulting and the Director of Business Partner Services, the HR Relations Client Specialist provides HR support to ensure the efficient delivery of human resources services to legacy UMDNJ client groups from RBHS and central administrative units. The HR Relations Client Specialist develops, fosters, and maintains strong working relationships and collaborations with university departments and schools. Works with UHR colleagues to support UHR strategic initiatives and implement compliance with UHR policies and procedures. Supports the team in providing client support and guidance consistent with UHR goals and objectives. In consultation and collaboration with Labor Relations ensures compliance with contract provisions of staff unions. Participates in special projects to promote, support, strengthen and expand the strategic role and partnerships with clients. Participates in UHR special projects and initiatives to develop, improve, streamline, document and communicate UHR Policies, Processes and Procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.

This position will support the RBHS Consultant team, formally known as the UHR Employment Services team. Will partner with UHR counterparts and Compensation Services to provide HR support to clients and employees. Participates in and provides research and administrative support for special projects and performs other duties as required.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Facilitation of Personnel Transactions.
  • Updating and maintaining Personnel Files.
  • Documenting Processes and Procedures.
  • HR Counseling/Advisement .
  • Employee Relations.
  • Temporary Workforce Administration.
  • Provide guidance with generating Internal Offer Letters/TMGTs, Layoff Letters, etc.
  • Assisting clients with creating/drafting job descriptions/CARFs for classification of positions .
  • Data processing of OPRA, FOIL and Pass the Trash requests.
  • Pull HR data and reports.
  • Data Audits.
  • UHR special projects as assigned.
  • HR client projects as assigned.
  • Assessing process improvement planning/review/recommendation.
  • Communicate and ensure HR compliance.
  • Create and maintain training materials, job aids, workflows, processes and procedures documentation.
  • Provide training, establish resources and job aids for team members and HR Liaisons (i.e., HR processes, procedures, and policies).

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in human resource management to include classification, recruitment, staffing, performance management, training, and compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws.
  • Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.   • Ability to navigate complex policies, contracts, and legal mandates to assist clients in achieving organization goals.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education and in a unionized environment preferred.
