Service Delivery
To support managers in all aspects of the recruitment process: securing approval to recruit, assisting manager with job descriptions and person specifications, adverting vacancies and interview process and appointing the successful candidate
To be a member of the assessment panel for vacancies when required.
To ensure that all offers of employment or contractual changes are processed in line with current legislation and provide support to managers to ensure onboarding is scheduled.
To ensure all relevant new starter documentation is received and acted upon e.g. Pre-employment Health Questionnaires, reference requests, right to work checks through the view and prove service etc. and records are kept within the HR system (PeopleHR)
To liaise with payroll to ensure all employees are paid accurately and on time.
To provide excellent support to candidates throughout the recruitment process to ensure a fantastic candidate experience.
To conduct staff tours of the Students' Union for staff recruitment.
To provide a comprehensive and confidential HR business partnering support service.
To lead on HR projects, policies and procedures and initiatives to improve overall employee engagement and to simplify and streamline processes.
To produce HR related letters to employees as required ensuring all templates are kept up to date.
To assist, support and advise managers with HR issues e.g. investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, sickness absence etc.
To ensure all new staff have an induction programme and support managers to complete the process.
To provide support to employees with regard to Employment and Wellbeing including signposting.
To ensure that all leavers are given the opportunity to have an exit interview and any issues are looked into to improve staff retention.
To maintain up to date awareness of HR policy and employment law legislation and implement required changes to HUSU policies and procedures.
To lead on improving and promoting HUSU's commitment to provide equal opportunities for all through our employment practices
To be a key contributor to the employee engagement, health & wellbeing and equity, diversity & inclusion including data collection, planning and execution.
To implement and support health and well-being initiatives for staff
Reporting and Information Management
To ensure all data on PeopleHR regarding salaries, grades and job titles are accurate.
To implement PeopleHR changes and ensure the system is being used to full potential.
To produce reports for the Finance & HR Director for KPI's, Senior Leadership Team meetings, Board and Board Committee reports
To maintain training records and provide reports to Managers to ensure all staff undertake appropriate training.
Team Working
To build strong internal relationships with managers.

To participate in projects and initiatives that cut across different departments as guided by the Finance and HR Director.
General duties and responsibilities
Ensure confidentiality at all times in the handling and dissemination of information and data, and embedding and implementing GDPR across the workload.
Carry out all duties in line with HUSU's policies and in line with the organisation's values and strategic aims.
Ensure the Health and Safety policy and procedures are followed at all times.
Maintain an active awareness of issues and practice in Students' Unions nationally in order to build on good practice and identify trends, innovation and development opportunities.
Carry out any other duties as may be required from time to time under the overall scope of the role.

Essential
Experience
Demonstrable experience of advising within a HR environment, including supporting managers, administration, record keeping and basic HR casework
Developing and implementing HR Policies and Procedures
Implementing well-being initiatives to support all staff
Implementing policies and procedures to ensure there is equal opportunity for all staff.
Supporting Managers to conduct investigations and disciplinaries, manage sickness absence and developing/training of staff.
Previous recruitment experience including volume recruitment
Previous administrative experience
Experience of using and improving HR systems
Skills/Ability/Knowledge
Working knowledge of employment law and legislation pertinent to areas of work
Have a confident, friendly approach with the ability to build relationships at all levels
Excellent planning and organisational skills to meet deadlines
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability and passion to manage multiple stakeholders at a variety of levels
Attention to detail
Highly competent IT skills applicable to the role (proficient in the use of MS Office applications, email and the internet) – ability to create spreadsheets, mail-merge
Designing reports to support management and senior leaders to manage and develop staff
Adaptable, proactive and flexible approach to work
