The Aalto Science Institute (AScI, https: // www. aalto.fi/aalto-science- institute) has been running a highly successful international summer research (internship) programme since 2012. In 2022 the programme received 1330 applications from 70 countries for the 55 available positions in 12 departments across 4 Aalto schools. The selected interns were of outstanding quality. AScI is now seeking an

Hourly worker

to work part-time alongside the Coordinator of AScI to assist with the managing the internship program for the period of 1.1.2023 – 31.8.2023. It is expected, but not guaranteed, that this job will repeat yearly.

Job requirements

The duties are varied and include but are not limited to:

  • Answering queries from applicants and recruits
  • Internal communication and maintenance of excel lists and wiki pages
  • Processing letters of recommendation
  • Communicating with AYY regarding student housing
  • Helping the recruits on arrival in Finland
  • Assisting in organizing social events during summer
  • We are looking for applicants with

  • good and detailed data management practices
  • some familiarity with international mobility issues
  • a friendly and helpful mindset
  • a flexible work schedule (as the workload can vary from day to day)
  • a fluent command of English
  • This is a part-time job where weekly hours vary depending on the phase of the recruitment process. The busiest time is in January-March, when the estimated working time is about 15 hours per week. In April-August the estimated working time may be 5 hours per week. The job requires about 300 hours in total, and most of the work can be done remotely (in Finland). The job is open to applicants of all levels of experience and is also suitable for students.
