The Chair of Excellence is expected to be a scholarly leader in the department, performing at levels exceeding those for the professor rank in the department, to mentor and graduate doctoral students, and to support research students, labs, and post-doctoral fellows by directing a nationally recognized and externally funded program of research.

Minimum Position Qualifications

Special Conditions

Psychology is especially interested in candidates with a doctoral degree in psychology or a closely related discipline in one of two areas: (a) clinical psychology or (b) cognitive science. Particular focus within either of these areas is open; however, preference will be given to candidates that complement and expand existing departmental strengths. In the area of clinical psychology, we are especially interested in candidates whose research addresses one or more of the following domains: addiction prevention or treatment; adult psychopathology or treatment; child and adolescent psychology including development, trauma, or psychopathology; health disparities; or pediatric health and health promotion. In cognitive science, we are interested in candidates specializing in individual differences in learning, intelligent tutoring, human-to-computer and human-to-human interactions, or general cognitive science.
