Job information

The Arts and Culture Projects team are a key civic arm of the University of Bedfordshire, partnering with many cross-sector organisations to widen participation into the cultural industries and enable current and budding practitioners to thrive. The team works laterally across the University's academic schools and professional departments to mobilise and share knowledge for the betterment and sustainable growth of the local creative, heritage and cultural educational sectors.

Based in this context, and reporting to the Arts and Culture Projects Manager, the Heritage Projects Officer will work in partnership with staff from across the University of Bedfordshire, as well as local partners, to deliver and monitor the University's newly funded Heritage Horizons project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The post-holder will work with key university and local Bedfordshire partners to coordinate project activity, as well as ensure accurate and comprehensive reporting of activity to the University and NLHF.

Heritage Horizons harnesses the success/learnings of the NLHF-funded Heritage Impact Accelerator and Heritage Enterprise Hub, by providing a series of well- defined heritage commissioning opportunities for community-level heritage practitioners in Bedfordshire. The project will provide attached mentoring opportunities from the project team and the wider University, in order to realise applicable step-changes in terms of project management, delivery (including data protection compliance), partnerships, and evaluation.

The project will be delivered across three commissioning tiers: Exchange, Develop and Transform. Commissions will be undertaken across two application/delivery cycles so that two cohorts of practitioners are developed. There will be planned sharing events and away days, which will promote co-working and collaboration within and between the cohorts, with support via the project team to ensure that this collaborative ethos has a ripple effect for promoting heritage partnerships across Bedfordshire's currently very separate three unitary areas. Sensitivity will be undertaken to ensure the selected heritage commissions are diverse and representative, as well as derive from practitioners from a broad range of locations across Bedfordshire.

Responsibilities include: coordinating programme and project deliverables, including monitoring and evaluation processes; planning and coordinating workshops and events; overseeing commissioned activity; organising stakeholder meetings; preparing necessary project delivery materials; ensuring projects documentation is maintained appropriately; maintaining and collaborating with key university and project partners; contribute to maintenance of the project budget and financial monitoring.

Interviews will be held on the 6th December 2023

We kindly request that all applicants refrain from canvassing during the application process. Your applications will be thoroughly reviewed, and if you meet our qualifications and are a good fit for the role, you will be contacted for the next steps.
