Offer Description

The activity will be focused on the production by recombinant expression and purification of elastin-like polypeptides endowed with antimicrobial activity and their employment in formulations to obtain sprayable water-based solutions. Elastin-Like Polypeptides allowing the integration of domains endowed with biological functionality will be produced in E.coli. They will be modified by cloning with antimicrobial peptides-based domains designed by the UoB partner in the STOP project. Formulations will be aimed to obtain thin-film coatings with antimicrobial properties. The activation and release of the antimicrobial domains will occur upon contact with a proteolytic stimuli-bearing environment. The technical-scientific skills necessary for this research are: basic molecular biology techniques like lab bacterial strains manipulation and cloning, protein expression and purification, analysis techniques; analysis and graphical representation of data; technical and scientific report; ability to work in a team; use of English.
