Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota seeks applications for a tenure- eligible position in Health Care Leadership (HCL), with specialization in Long Term Care Administration. Rank is dependent on qualifications and experience. The position is a 9-month appointment with compensation or reassigned time for summer work with internship supervision. Concordia's Health Care Leadership Program was one of the first such undergraduate programs in the country, having been established in the 1960s. Today the undergraduate major includes concentrations in Health Care Financial Management, Health Care Administration, and Long-Term Care Administration. The Long-Term Care Administration program holds National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Board (NAB) accreditation as a Health Services Executive (HSE) Baccalaureate Program and the Health Care Administration Program is a member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA). The HCL Program is housed in the Sanford Heimarck School of Health Professions, along with programs in Pre-Health Professions, Clinical Lab Science, Exercise Science, Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Social Work. The school is committed to educating future health professions leaders by emphasizing interprofessional, interdisciplinary, and collaborative team-based education, grounded in the liberal arts. Programs in the school have built strong reputations, boast high placement rates for graduates, and earn pass rates on licensure exams that far exceed national averages. In June of 2021 the school received an historic monetary gift from Sanford Health which will be used to expand quality and size of existing programs, as well develop new programming.

Concordia College is a private, baccalaureate liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) that prepares its students to become responsible leaders in a global society. The College is located in the Moorhead (MN)/Fargo (ND) area, a growing metropolitan area of 235,000 with increasing diversity and increasingly ranked among the nation's most livable cities. The Fargo-Moorhead area is home to a vibrant medical community including several profit and not-for-profit hospitals, a Veteran's Administration Hospital, multiple long term care facilities, and a broad array of community agencies.

This position will teach a variety of undergraduate health care leadership courses and must be able to contribute to the Long-Term Care Administration concentration. A background in Health Care Financial Management is desirable. The ideal candidate will possess teaching experience, as well as professional experience in a long-term care facility, preferably in a position(s) of significant responsibility.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Work closely with the Dean of the Sanford Heimarck School of Health Professions to maintain the quality of the Health Care Leadership Program and contribute to continued growth in this program, as well as possible new ventures related to Health Care Leadership. This may include graduate/professional programming.

2. Teach a variety of courses within the Health Care Leadership Program and manage and supervise Long-Term Care internships. Normal teaching load (teaching and internship supervision) is 12 credits per semester. Limited teaching in the Offutt School of Business is also possible, most likely in the area of business management.

3. Cultivate and maintain relationships with program alumni, health care leaders, and practicing professionals in the region.

4. Develop internship sites and supervise student internships.

5. Advise and mentor students within the Health Care Leadership Program including supervision of activities of the Student Health Care Leadership Group.

6. Provide oversight for the program's NAB accreditation.

7. Contribute to administrative functions within the program including oversight of operating budgets, course scheduling, assessment efforts, etc.

8. Engage in service as needed within the program, college, and community.

9. Assist in the recruitment of prospective students to the program and the college.

10. Assist in fund raising and grant writing for the Health Care Leadership Program and the School of Health Professions.

Minimum Qualifications

2. Earned doctorate or appropriate terminal degree in health care administration or a related field. Candidates with substantial progress towards degree completion will be considered. Applicants with a Master's may be considered for a fixed term position with conversion to tenure eligible with degree completion.

3. Professional work experience in the long-term care industry.

4. Demonstrated interest in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.

5. Knowledge of state licensure requirements.

6. Commitment to serving students, the program, the college, and the community.

7. A commitment to scholarly activity.

8. Strong networking skills, especially with alumni and practicing health professionals.

9. High standards of honesty and integrity.

10. A philosophy in sympathy with the aims and objectives of a liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Undergraduate teaching experience.

2. Experience with securing, managing, and supervising student internship experiences.

3. At least 3-5 years of professional health care experience with positions of increasing responsibility.

4. Experience with national accreditation (NAB).

5. Experience with the development of new undergraduate or graduate programming.

6. History of active participation in professional associations.

7. Knowledge and understanding of adult learners.
