About the role
Be part of an exciting, new and significant learning and teaching development
at Staffordshire University! As part of the University's continued commitment
to an exceptional, innovative and forward-looking teaching, learning and
student experience, we are further enhancing our expertise in pedagogic
practice, developing a key role as the Head of Education Research &
This role will be central to the University delivering continued high
performance in our Education metrics. Working with Strategic Planning and the
Director for Learning and Teaching, this role will add to our capacity for
learner analytics and its use in shaping our interventions to support an
excellent student experience and student outcomes.
The role-holder will lead our data evaluation and research and will manage the
strategic insight into data which supports the whole student life cycle. We
are looking for an individual who can develop new methodologies for
interrogating our data and for evaluating our interventions for impact.
Applications are sought from very enthusiastic, team-orientated, flexible
individuals with excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and
presenting skills. Applicants must have a Masters' degree in a social science
discipline and a strong track record of using data intelligence to produce
insight reports and make recommendations for appropriate actions and
interventions to senior leaders in a University context.
Excellent recent experience of qualitative and qualitative research methods,
and advanced skills in statistical software, are essential. Demonstration of
engagement with scholarship and/or research (evidenced by successful grant
applications, recent publications in peer reviewed journals, book chapters,
conference presentations etc.) is desirable. Experience of developing policy
and guidance in response to relevant HE sector regulators would be welcomed,
as would a teaching qualification (and/or Fellowship of AdvanceHE).
