College of Social Sciences & Arts Academic Senior staff grade - £77,785 to £85,112 (pro rata) dependent on experience

The Department of Psychology, Sociology and Politics has thriving teaching provision and an excellent track record of research performance and income – all supported by an incredibly committed staff group. As Head of Department you will provide visible strategic leadership to drive the enhancement, expansion and quality of all aspects of the department's activity.

Key priorities will include:

  • Leading on revalidation and the ongoing sustainability of our courses
  • Improving graduate outcomes
  • Managing the move to a new, state-of-the-art building in spring/summer 2024
  • Ensuring research is a fully inclusive endeavour throughout the department
  • The capabilities you will need include:

  • Experience of contributing to academic strategy development, and of executing faculty/ college strategy at department level
  • Significant experience of leading and managing academic colleagues
  • Exemplary interpersonal and people management skills
