Position Title Head Men's Golf Coach

Position Summary

The Head Men and Women's Golf Coach is responsible for all aspects in leading a competitive NCAA Division I men and women's golf program to include but not limited to: coaching (practice and in-game), recruiting, fund-raising, positive encouragement towards student-athlete development, scheduling, and hiring staff. Full commitment to all NCAA, Southland Conference, and University of the Incarnate Word Athletics Department policies and procedures is expected. Position works cooperatively with all constituencies and campus units.

This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you, as the employee, to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about Title IX violations. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Description of Job Duties

  • Manage and direct golf program.
  • Recruit, teach and demonstrate coaching skills.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with student-athletes, former players, faculty, alumni and staff.
  • Provide positive encouragement towards student-athlete development.
  • Compete and schedule.
  • Managing a fiscally sound budget.
  • Direct the assistant golf coach in coordinating study hall and tutoring.
  • Monitor class schedules, grades and student-athlete academic progress.
  • Work cooperatively with athletic personnel, attend department meetings and activities.
  • Represent the university positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school and club coaches, media and general public.
  • Evaluate assistant coaches.
  • Ensure adherence to all rules and regulations set forth for the team, the University, the Southland Conference and the NCAA.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must be a team player, and have the ability to support and assist other employees.
  • Must be dependable and have strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
  • Required Education

    Bachelor's Degree.

    Required Work Experience

    A minimum of three years of University golf coaching experience or a minimum of three years of University golf playing experience.

    Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations

    Must have a valid driver's license and must be insurable with UIW's insurance carrier.
