  • Champalimaud Foundation (Fundação D. Anna de Sommer Champalimaud e Dr. Carlos Montez Champalimaud), a private, non-profit research institution in Lisbon, Portugal, is looking for a Hardware Developer to join our team.

    Work Plan:

  • Perform mechanical and electronic assembly of clinical and research equipment developed in-house in close collaboration with the hardware and software development teams;
  • Perform regular maintenance, diagnostic and repair of healthcare electro- mechanical furniture;
  • Collaborate with the hardware development teams in the construction of prototypes and replication of in-house developed products for clinical and research application areas.

  • All candidates will receive a receipt of acknowledgment within 7-10 business days. The highest scoring candidate will be notified by email or telephone. All other candidates will be notified solely by email of the final outcome of the recruitment process.
  • After being notified, candidates will have 10 working days to present a claim for redress by email (careers@research.fchampalimaud.org). If no claim is received by the Champalimaud Foundation, the Evaluation Committee's decision will become definitive.

    Offer Requirements Skills/Qualifications

    Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or professional development course in electronics, mechanics or related areas;
  • 3-5 years proven experience in a similar role;
  • Intermediate English proficiency level.
  • Essential skills:

  • Knowledge of construction and assembly techniques, terminology, and documentation;
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, construction drawings and similar documents;
  • Experience with diverse mechanical power tools (drill, jigsaw, miter saw, mill, lathe, sander, and similar);
  • Basic understanding of electronics principles, troubleshooting and measurement;
  • Hands-on experience with wiring and soldering;
  • Highly motivated and excellent team player;
  • Responsible with good organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Desirable skills that will also be considered:

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google tools;
  • Working knowledge of CAD tools;
  • Thorough understanding of electronics principles, design and read and understand schematics/layout/Gerber files;
  • Hands-on experience in using laboratory tools such as multi meter, oscilloscope, logic analyzers, etc.;
  • Hands-on experience with SMD and TH components soldering.
