Position Overview

Assist the University Union Marketing Department by developing and implementing marketing campaigns for University Union related services, routine website maintenance, supervising the Information Desk and serving as a backup for assessment related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in graphic design or related field and two years of professional graphic arts work experience in print, video, and/or electronic media production, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Working knowledge of the principles, equipment, software, and practices of the field of media design and production. • Knowledge of the methods, practices and techniques used in the production of graphic and advertising design materials for print and digital media. • Manual dexterity and physical ability to operate various items of media equipment. • Ability to conceptualize and develop original ideas for media production. • Knowledgeable in Adobe products including InDesign, Photoshop (including basic animation), and Illustrator. • Knowledge of printing processes. • Maintains the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supervising/mentoring students. Experience working in an educational environment. Excellent customer service skills.

Job Duties

o

Through the use of images, text, and color, develop, coordinate, execute, and evaluate artistically interesting and visually pleasing print and digital materials using Union and university brand standards. Designs may be implemented in a variety of formats, such as print, digital screens, websites, and social media.

o

Conceptualize, prepare, and design quality projects such as publications, brochures, signage and ads as assigned by the department, while maintaining compliance with copyright law.

o

Create, schedule and maintain Union's digital signage system.

o

Participate in customer project meetings to take projects from concept to delivery by developing concepts and designs, directing photo shoots, producing proofs, and advising customers of appropriate options to achieve customers' objectives.

o

Oversee and mentor student graphic designers. Delegate tasks and projects. Manage employee work schedules based on departmental need and in alignment with budget.

o

Assist in managing website content and in creating new content for the department.
