General Summary of Position:

The Office of Equity & Inclusion (E&I) works across divisions and communities to align university efforts in the systemic infusion of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging (DEIB). The Grant Writer/Resource Development Specialist is responsible for researching and identifying grant/funding opportunities, authoring/writing, submittals, management of proposals, timely reporting, and general support of the resource development process focused on DEIB. Position works collaboratively with campus partners for content development and application submissions.

This is a temporary, part-time, non-benefited, non-unit position of 18 hours per week for up to one year with the potential for renewal dependent on funding. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Creative Writing, or related area (master's preferred)
  • Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in grant writing/fundraising and submitting successful grant proposals
  • Excellent knowledge of proposal submission, fundraising process, and proficiency with competitive corporate and foundation, federal and state granting processes
  • Skills:

  • Effective communication skills; clear, precise, and compelling writing skills
  • Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources
  • Strong multitasking, organizational and time management skills, detailed oriented, deadline-driven, with excellent follow-up & follow-through skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build/maintain relationships with a diverse array of people including faculty, staff, external community partners
  • Demonstrated self-starter, motivated, ability to work independently with purpose and accuracy
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite applications, web-based platforms
  • Additional Considerations:

  • Non-profit experience or related experience in communications, journalism would be considered
  • Knowledge of the historic barriers and contemporary challenges faced by underrepresented and marginalized populations
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to write in different styles or formats (technical, business, creative, etc.)
  • Experience with local & regional foundations and corporations
  • Experience with federal and state funding opportunities
  • Ability to self-check and editing skills
  • High degree of initiative to find opportunities
  • Ability to meet deadlines, and work independently
  • Attention to detail, strong editing and organization skills
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret and apply proposal guidelines and/or government regulations
